Going to Chincoteague in two days for the extended weekend holiday. I'm so excited! Thought I would post these and do a little celebration dance.

As many of you know, Bobby's band played in NYC last weekend. I had planned to go, but backed out the day before (such a jerk). Everything went very well, with my paranoia being completely unfounded.

You can view pictures here.

Notice that Bobby is wearing the black VERMONT shirt I brought back for him recently. G: I had to keep the small brown one for myself.

Don't ever throw your canvas tote bag in the washer and dryer. This is what happens:

Just discovered the Rock and Shop Market alternative craft fair in Raleigh. It's scheduled for July 15th and should draw in artists from all over the country. There will be beer, live music and many booths of handmade items, ranging from hand silk-screened posters to sock monkeys.
The fair is based on the successful Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn and Chicago and is sponsored by BUST, Readymade, and other DIY groups. Perhaps we can form one in our area...or participate in the larger craft fairs as a booth representing Norfolk artists. I know of a handful of artists who will join me in this venture (next year).... Interested? Find out about it here.

P - Regarding our discussion yesterday:

I really do NOT need any more pillows, but when I saw these, I am starting to reconsider. They are a little bizarre - I'm not quite understanding the whole Taj Mahal/flamenco dancer relation, but that's what makes them interesting. Plus, they are the perfect colors! So, hmmm...they're on sale at Pier One and Bobby isn't home...

Almost done sending out the invites, though have forgotten to send out my bills. Oops.

Bobby is leaving for NYC this afternoon. We switched cars and he left me with a donut on the Escort. Balls!

So, a weekend alone :( I have many projects to complete around the house, so I guess technically, I won't be bored. Problem is - I start something, become distracted and work on something else. That's why our house looks the way it does and why the backyard grass is always taller.

Just got a call from Frank asking if I can work in the soup kitchen Saturday morning. I can't think of a reason why not. He's expecting 50 attendees due to it being the end of the month (welfare checks have run out). Anyone want to help?

Also received a letter from a long distance friend last night. It brightened my dreary day, especially the line about june bugs being tiles waiting to overtake the space he was occupying. He feels the need to flip over every june bug that bounces off the light and falls on its back. Disgusting. They remind me of cockroaches.

Well, I'm no longer accompanying Bobby's band to New York, so I won't be able to post any new trip pictures. Will post invite shortly.

I just made the decision to go to NYC this weekend with Bobby's band, so I should have a bunch of new pics to post on Monday.

Also just finished designing/constructing Marissa's baby shower invites - I'm totally rolling with this owl theme now (sorry Mar). Here's a detail - I'll scan the whole invite and post later.

I finally finished the little owl pillow for Marissa's and Mike's baby, who I like to call "Tater Tot." I was hoping I would have more time for other creative activities over the past week, but kept getting distracted by family matters, flowerbeds, "In Cold Blood," and the Britney Spears interview.

Britney Spears - what a shame. She couldn't manage to say more than "that's awesome" or "we're country." She could have least taken the chewing gum out of her mouth before starting the interview.

The following photos are for Jennifer.

Taking a break on the nature loop.
A few more pics from our trip to the Eastern Shore.
A mallard I got to know.

Returned from Chincoteague last night. On Saturday night we "feasted" on steamed crabs. Truly the most disgusting thing I've ever consumed and such a violent process. Next time I'll stick to crab dip.

My favorite salt and pepper shakers. I've received many sets since this one, but can't manage to put these aside. They were a gift from an ex-coworker who picked them up at an antique fair.

Going to Chincoteague this weekend.

As promised, here are some pictures from last night. The music was much like the photos – abstract and chaotic. Three projectors overlayed images unto the band - a fusion of three different images (four including the 3-dimensional).
A younger girl I passed in the hallway asked me if I had seen Satan, plus there was a dhoti-wearing man chanting and counting his prayer beads in the front row. A transcendent experience in a dingy hell-hole bar...awesome.

Overall, the music was loud and aggressive, but tight in its composition and execution.
The previous post was a tad melodramatic. I've gotten some emails expressing concern, but I swear I've NEVER been happier. Rock bottom refers to the artists block I've experienced the past year.

On another note, one of Bobby's bands played last night at the Taphouse. I'll post pictures shortly.

Dear Family and Friends,

Due to the recent misplacement of my motivation, this blog has been created to give me the kick in the pants I so desperately need. Please send disapproving comments, words of disappointment, and angry letters my way. Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom in order to regain focus.

Oh, and don't expect much, as I am a person of few words. There will be daily (hopefully) postings featuring photos, drawings, and other tidbits allowing a glimpse of my life in Norfolk.
